About The Position

This position is located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Safety Manager I/II is responsible for ensuring a safe workplace for 6,000 employees by developing communication formats for agency safety information, maintaining review processes for policies and reports, and responding to inquiries. The role also involves ensuring occupational health and safety (OSHA) compliance across 90 offices, including developing facility plans, forms, and staff training. Additionally, the Safety Manager will identify safety concerns, track occurrences, develop mitigation strategies, collaborate with staff and other agencies, and supervise subordinate staff. Travel is extensive, and a valid driver's license with required car insurance is necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, industrial hygiene, or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of professional experience in industrial relations, safety, safety inspection, safety education, transportation management, engineering, human resources, or risk management (for Level I).
  • Six (6) years of professional experience in industrial relations, safety, safety inspection, safety education, transportation management, engineering, human resources, or risk management (for Level II).
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of professional qualifying experience for each year of the required education.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must maintain required car insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Safety Program Manager to ensure a safe workplace for 6,000 employees.
  • Develop communication formats to broadcast agency safety information.
  • Maintain a review process for information, policies, procedures, and reports.
  • Respond to partner and staff questions and inquiries. Follow up as required.
  • Ensure occupational health and safety (OSHA) compliance at 90 offices.
  • Develop facility plans – emergency, exposure control, and hazard communication.
  • Develop forms – safety coordinator, safety committee, and chemical inventory.
  • Identify and facilitate staff training to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Respond to Department of Labor inspections and inquiries.
  • Identify safety concerns, track occurrence, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with staff to review, implement, and update policies.
  • Develop fleet vehicle accident tracking, use, and driver improvement training.
  • Identify risks through job hazard analysis and set preventive controls.
  • Plan to lower workplace accidents, property damage, and violence at work.
  • Collaborate with staff and other agencies through meetings, reports, and policies.
  • Supervise subordinate staff in their performance of daily and weekly tasks.
  • Create and track access badges and manage badges with issues.
  • Identify drivers that are violating state law and agency vehicle use policy.
  • Manage data, conduct trend analysis, and report safety concerns.
  • Track the status of safety systems, their required inspection and maintenance.
