About The Position

Our client, a well-established, family-owned heavy civil construction company headquartered in Minnesota, is seeking a Safety Manager – Foundations to support safety and environmental compliance across deep foundation and heavy civil construction operations. The company has nearly 100 years of industry experience and specializes in self-performed site development, demolition, foundations, underground infrastructure, and environmental services. This hands-on position helps maintain a safe work environment on projects involving commercial and high-rise buildings, bridges and marine structures, industrial and manufacturing facilities, and infrastructure and transportation. The Safety Manager works closely with project teams, supervisors, employees, and subcontractors to identify risks, implement safety programs, investigate incidents, and promote a strong safety culture. The position is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with regular jobsite travel and overnight stays. The typical schedule is 8–10 hours on weekdays, with occasional weekends and overtime as project demands require.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of experience in construction, waste, transportation, or a related industry.
OSHA 30 certification.
Working knowledge of construction safety and environmental principles.
Strong incident investigation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Valid driver's license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
Ability to travel regularly and stay overnight as required.
Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, or a related field.
OHST, CHST, or CSP certification.
OSHA 500 certification.
Confined Space, HAZWOPER, DOT, and/or MSHA training.
Class A or B CDL with current medical card.
Knowledge of driver qualification files and DOT compliance.
Experience supporting deep foundation, heavy civil, industrial, infrastructure, or transportation projects.

Responsibilities

Conduct regular jobsite safety audits and inspections.
Investigate incidents, near misses, property damage, and workers' compensation matters.
Develop and implement site-specific safety and health plans.
Conduct safety training and orientation for employees, supervisors, and subcontractors.
Support compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulatory requirements.
Maintain safety records, documentation, and required reports.
Identify and oversee personal protective equipment requirements.
Manage and monitor air-monitoring instruments and related equipment.
Assist with safety and environmental initiatives across foundation and heavy civil operations.
Provide backup support to the Safety Coordinator as needed.
Partner with field leadership to identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and continuously improve safety performance.
