About The Position

The Safety Manager plays a critical role in ensuring a safe working environment within the construction industry. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs that comply with regulatory standards and best practices. The Safety Manager will conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure that safety protocols are being followed. Additionally, this role involves training employees on safety procedures and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization. Ultimately, the Safety Manager's efforts will significantly reduce workplace accidents and enhance the overall safety performance of the company.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of progressive safety experience in construction
  • OSHA 30‑Hour Construction or OSHA 510 – Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry
  • Competent Person Training, including but not limited to: Excavation & Trenching, Fall Protection, Confined Space (Construction)
  • Excavation and Trenching Safety Certification with practical field application
  • CPR / First Aid / AED (current)
  • Hazard Communication (GHS)
  • Accident investigation and safety management systems
  • Occupational health knowledge
  • Safety training skills
  • Analytical skills to assess compliance and recommend improvements

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred with ability to communicate safety expectations clearly to a diverse workforce
  • Experience with safety management software

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee safety programs that comply with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure that safety protocols are being followed.
  • Train employees on safety procedures and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
  • Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections.
  • Maintain overall jobsite security, including controlled access, fencing, signage, lighting, and access points.
  • Coordinate with site supervision to prevent unauthorized entry and protect workers, equipment, and the public.
  • Conduct jobsite safety orientations for all new workers, visitors, and subcontractors, reviewing project hazards, emergency procedures, required PPE, and site rules.
  • Ensure documentation of completed orientations is accurate and up to date.
  • Participate in pre-task planning and toolbox talks.
  • Serve as a safety resource for supervisors, foremen, and crews.
  • Intervene and stop work when unsafe conditions or practices are observed.
  • Accident investigation and safety management systems.
  • Conducting safety audits.
