About The Position

Rycon Construction is an employee-owned company (ESOP) that provides construction management, general contracting, design-build, and program management services nationwide. An ENR Top 400 Contractor, ENR Top 100 Green Contractor, and BD+C Top 150 Contractor with nine offices, Rycon specializes in new construction, renovations, and adaptive reuse projects. Rycon’s portfolio includes projects in aviation, healthcare, higher education, industrial/warehouse, commercial, multi-unit residential, student housing, food service/dining, data centers/mission critical, retail, financial, self-storage, government/municipality, and LEED facilities. We have an in-house Architectural Finishes & Specialty Fabrication Division that ships/installs nationally. We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager in our Dallas office.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of construction safety experience, preferably within commercial construction environments.
  • Direct experience supporting Data Center and Mission Critical construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, construction safety practices, and risk management principles.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and engage employees, subcontractors, and leadership in maintaining a strong safety culture.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to conduct presentations and safety training.
  • Ability to manage multiple project sites and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software platforms.

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with operational and executive leadership to strengthen and promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Lead accident and incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific safety plans, site logistics plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, training programs, and ongoing safety education for employees and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Estimating, and Preconstruction teams on project safety planning, site-specific risks, and constructability review.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide safety leadership throughout all phases of construction.
  • Monitor and enforce subcontractor compliance with company safety requirements, site-specific safety plans, and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain safety documentation, reports, audits, training records, and regulatory compliance records.
  • Develop and implement new safety initiatives, programs, and best practices to continuously improve overall safety performance.
  • Track safety metrics, analyze trends, and provide recommendations to leadership for improvement opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary safety resource and advisor for project teams throughout the Dallas region.
  • Support multiple project sites through regular local travel and field presence.
