About The Position

Join a civil contractor supporting the early phases of a large industrial construction project in Reno, NV. This role provides hands-on safety leadership for mass grading, footing excavation, earthmoving operations, and heavy civil construction activities while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and project safety requirements. The Construction Safety Manager will work closely with field supervision, equipment operators, and project leadership to oversee excavation, grading, heavy equipment operations, underground work, and contractor safety on a fast-paced industrial construction site.

Requirements

  • CHST or Higher BCSP Credential
  • Civil construction experience required
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards
  • Working knowledge of Heavy Civil Construction Safety
  • Working knowledge of Mass Grading Operations
  • Working knowledge of Footing & Foundation Excavation
  • Working knowledge of Excavation & Trenching Safety
  • Working knowledge of Soil Classification & Protective Systems
  • Working knowledge of Heavy Equipment Operations
  • Working knowledge of Earthmoving & Site Development
  • Working knowledge of Haul Road & Construction Traffic Safety
  • Working knowledge of Material Handling Operations
  • Working knowledge of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) Development
  • Working knowledge of Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis
  • Working knowledge of Contractor Safety Management
  • Working knowledge of Construction Risk Assessment & Mitigation
  • Working knowledge of Industrial Construction Safety Best Practices

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily safety activities for civil construction operations
  • Maintain a strong field presence alongside craft personnel and project supervision
  • Conduct routine site inspections, audits, field observations, and risk assessments
  • Monitor mass grading, footing excavation, and earthmoving activities
  • Oversee heavy equipment operations, haul routes, and material handling activities
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA excavation standards and project safety requirements
  • Monitor excavation protection systems, access/egress, and changing soil conditions
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), excavation permits, and pre-task plans
  • Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation
  • Maintain safety documentation, reports, inspections, and compliance records
  • Partner with project leadership to proactively identify and mitigate hazards
  • Promote a positive safety culture throughout the project

Benefits

  • Per Diem: $150/Day (7 Days Per Week)
  • Completion Bonus: $150/month
