About The Position

Sheakley is seeking an experienced Construction EHS Manager to support a large-scale construction initiative at an active manufacturing facility in Newark, DE. This is a long-term opportunity for a safety professional with strong construction EHS experience, electrical safety knowledge, and the ability to lead safety efforts in a live operational environment. The project includes a major building expansion, construction of three new buildings on the existing property, and relocation of a retention pond. All construction activity will take place while the manufacturing facility remains active, making this role ideal for someone who understands how to manage safety across multiple trades while balancing production, construction, and stakeholder expectations.

Requirements

  • OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 required
  • 3+ years of construction safety experience
  • Strong electrical safety background
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70E
  • Experience overseeing general contractors and subcontractors
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to push back on internal stakeholders and contractors when needed
  • Comfortable operating as both a safety enforcer and safety coach

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting construction inside a live manufacturing facility
  • Experience with building expansions, multi-trade construction, or large-scale industrial projects
  • Strong incident investigation, corrective action, and contractor oversight experience

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing safety performance of general contractors and subcontractors across all trades
  • Enforcing site-specific safety plans, policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Conducting daily site walks, hazard assessments, safety audits, and field observations
  • Supporting OSHA, NFPA 70E, and project-specific EHS compliance
  • Identifying unsafe behaviors and conditions and driving corrective actions
  • Leading safety meetings, toolbox talks, and incident investigations
  • Serving as the primary safety point of contact for construction leadership and site management
  • Supporting safe work planning for high-risk construction and electrical activities
  • Communicating safety expectations clearly with contractors, internal teams, and field leadership
  • Balancing enforcement and coaching to maintain a safe, productive jobsite

Benefits

  • Traveler rate: $52 to $55/hr + $175 per diem
  • Local rate: $59 to $65/hr
