About The Position

Join a mechanical contractor supporting the construction of a large-scale data center project in Saint George, SC. This role offers the opportunity to provide hands-on safety leadership for mechanical construction activities while working closely with field supervision, craft personnel, and project leadership. The Construction Safety Manager will maintain a strong field presence while supporting mechanical installation, piping, equipment setting, material handling, hot work, elevated work, and other high-risk activities associated with a fast-paced data center construction environment.

Requirements

  • OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 Certification, or Higher Safety Designation
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards
  • Working knowledge of Mechanical Construction Safety
  • Working knowledge of Data Center Construction
  • Working knowledge of Mechanical Equipment Installation
  • Working knowledge of Piping, HVAC & Plumbing Operations
  • Working knowledge of Hot Work, Welding, Cutting & Grinding
  • Working knowledge of Crane & Rigging Operations
  • Working knowledge of Material Handling & Equipment Setting
  • Working knowledge of Fall Protection & Elevated Work
  • Working knowledge of Aerial Lifts & MEWPs
  • Working knowledge of Scaffold & Ladder Safety
  • Working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Awareness
  • Working knowledge of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) & Pre-Task Planning
  • Working knowledge of Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis
  • Working knowledge of Contractor Safety Management
  • Working knowledge of Construction Risk Assessment & Mitigation

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical construction safety experience
  • Data center construction experience
  • Experience supporting piping, HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical equipment installation
  • CHST, ASP, CSP, or other BCSP credential
  • Experience supporting large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily safety activities for mechanical construction operations
  • Maintain a highly visible field presence alongside mechanical crews and project supervision
  • Conduct routine site inspections, audits, field observations, and risk assessments
  • Monitor mechanical installation, piping, equipment setting, and material handling activities
  • Support safe execution of hot work, welding, cutting, and grinding operations
  • Monitor elevated work, aerial lift, scaffold, and fall protection activities
  • Support crane, rigging, and equipment placement operations
  • Monitor contractor compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), permits, lift plans, and pre-task plans
  • Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation
  • Maintain safety documentation, reports, inspections, and compliance records
  • Partner with project supervision to proactively identify and mitigate hazards
  • Promote a positive safety culture throughout the project
