Shawmut’s Mission Critical group is growing fast, and we’re looking for a Safety Manager who’s ready to shape the safety culture of some of the most complex, high‑performance projects in the industry. You’ll influence decision‑making, strengthen subcontractor performance, and help build a culture where safety is embedded in every conversation and every task. You’ll help build and shape a new Mission Critical safety program from the ground up. You’ll work on cutting‑edge facilities that power the digital world. Requirements

  • At least 3 years of construction safety experience (data center experience is a plus).
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards.
  • The ability to read drawings, anticipate risks, and communicate clearly and confidently.
  • A collaborative, relationship‑driven approach — you know how to influence without authority.
  • Certifications such as First Aid/CPR, OSHA 500, or BCSP credentials
  • Comfort with technology (MS Office, Procore) and a willingness to learn new systems.
  • Eligible candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship or restriction, now and in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with project teams during preconstruction to identify risks early and build smart, proactive safety plans.
  • Conduct regular site walkthroughs to spot hazards, recommend corrective actions, and ensure safe work practices.
  • Lead engaging safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training for employees and subcontractors.
  • Review and approve required permits, documentation, and safety checklists throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Investigate incidents and near‑misses, determine root causes, and communicate lessons learned across teams.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and ensure compliance with OSHA, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Superintendents and Project Managers to reinforce expectations and drive accountability.
  • Support continuous improvement by contributing to the development and refinement of Shawmut’s safety programs.
  • Monitor weather and site conditions daily to anticipate and mitigate environmental risks.
  • Serve as a visible, approachable safety leader who builds trust and influences without authority.
