Key responsibilities include ensuring all personnel are properly trained in OSHA and Company required safety programs, assisting management with OSHA compliance, conducting regular plant safety audits, observing workforce for safe behaviors, and investigating all injuries to identify root causes and prevent recurrence. The role also involves reviewing plant accident statistics to recommend performance improvements, establishing accident prevention and cost-control objectives, keeping apprised of federal and state safety laws, and acting as a plant liaison for government agencies on safety and health matters.
