About The Position

A confidential client is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager to support a ground-up science research center project in Tampa, FL. This is a strong opportunity for a safety professional who enjoys being in the field, leading safety across an active multi-trade job site, and staying involved through critical phases of construction. The project will include a heavy focus on structural work, concrete, steel erection, building envelope installation, fall protection, crane activity, rigging operations, and leading-edge/open-deck safety. The ideal candidate is confident, proactive, and comfortable holding subcontractors accountable while helping the project team maintain safe, productive jobsite operations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of construction safety experience
  • Experience supporting large-scale, ground-up construction projects
  • Strong multi-trade jobsite safety experience
  • Experience with steel erection, concrete structures, or building envelope work
  • Knowledge of fall protection requirements for elevated and multi-story construction
  • Understanding of leading-edge and open-deck safety practices
  • Experience with crane and rigging safety oversight
  • Ability to manage subcontractor compliance and accountability
  • Strong communication, documentation, and field leadership skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred, but not required
  • Supported complex commercial, institutional, industrial, healthcare, research, higher education, or technical facility construction projects
  • Experience in structural steel, concrete, exterior skin/building envelope, crane operations, rigging, fall protection, and high-risk work planning

Responsibilities

  • Conducting daily site safety walks, inspections, and audits
  • Leading toolbox talks, safety meetings, and pre-task planning discussions
  • Reviewing and supporting JSAs/JHAs for high-risk construction activities
  • Monitoring subcontractor safety performance and enforcing accountability
  • Supporting fall protection planning for multi-story work
  • Overseeing leading-edge, open-deck, structural steel, and concrete-related hazards
  • Monitoring crane, rigging, and material handling activities
  • Investigating incidents, documenting findings, and recommending corrective actions
  • Partnering with field leadership to correct hazards before they become incidents
  • Ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and project-specific safety requirements
