About The Position

Join a mechanical contractor supporting a major expansion project at the Hitachi Transformers facility in South Boston, VA. This long-term opportunity provides hands-on safety leadership for HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical construction activities on a half-billion-dollar manufacturing expansion project. The Safety Manager will work closely with project leadership, supervision, and craft personnel to ensure compliance with site safety requirements while supporting safe and efficient project execution.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Safety or related field and 5+ years of construction experience
10+ years of full-time construction safety experience and OSHA 500 Certification
CHST Certification and 5+ years of construction experience

Responsibilities

Provide daily safety oversight for HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical construction activities
Conduct toolbox talks and support daily safety communications
Assist with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), and work planning activities
Conduct routine site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements
Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate corrective actions
Provide field coaching and reinforce safe work practices with craft personnel
Coordinate safety activities with project management, supervision, and subcontractors
Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation
Maintain required safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports
Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the project
