This is a districtwide role intended to serve all Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) campuses. Assignments will be made based on program needs and project workloads in each region and campus. Candidates should indicate regional preference on the qualifications form. The Safety Manager will perform management oversight of construction activity on behalf of the client, report on contractor regulatory and contract safety compliance on multiple projects sites. This role involves monitoring compliance to all current OSHA requirements, performing daily safety reviews, and monitoring adherence to Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) requirements. The position also supports the Program Safety Manager, attends construction meetings, leads safety topics, and prepares safety reports. Responsibilities include ongoing construction site safety inspections, generating daily safety reports, submitting weekly Project Health Safety and Environmental Observation Reports, and reviewing contractor submittals such as JHA, MOP, Fall Protection Plans, Crane Lift Plans, Excavation and Scaffold Erecting Plans, Confined Space Entry, and hazard assessments. The role also involves reviewing contractor-submitted incident reports, participating in safety stand-downs, preparing lessons learned, documenting safety orientations, and monitoring adherence to zero tolerance and corrective action policies. The position requires flexibility in schedule and transportation to work at multiple sites throughout the greater Los Angeles area and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, establish daily work priorities, and perform oversight at multiple active construction projects. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
