About The Position

Under limited or general supervision, the Safety Lead plays a vital role in creating a safe, healthy, and high‑performing work environment through effective administration of the Industrial Safety Program. Partnering closely with management, this position provides daily guidance to plant personnel and contractors to ensure consistent Industrial Safety compliance and support safe execution of all activities across the site.

Requirements

• Able to obtain and maintain a “Q” level security clearance.
• Associate’s Degree in Industrial/Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Four years of safety experience.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Must be tested for the absence of any illegal drug prior to an offer of employment being made.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Q security clearance.
• Must undergo a background investigation by the Federal government.
• Must be able to undergo subsequent Federal government reinvestigations.

Nice To Haves

• B.S. Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field.
• Ten (10) or more years of experience.
• Experience in Industrial Hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Build strong working relationships with personnel across the organization to identify, evaluate, and control potential workplace hazards.
• Coordinate closely with other teams to ensure all procedures integrate sound Industrial Safety principles.
• Lead inspections, analyses, and evaluations of planned work, plant facilities, contractor activities, equipment, and materials to determine accident potential.
• Assist with the creation, implementation, and maintenance of Industrial Safety training materials—including training plans, self‑study guides and testing modules—and deliver classroom instruction as needed.
• Serve as the Competent Person for scaffolds and the Subject Matter Expert for all Industrial Safety Programs.
• Actively participate in Pre‑Job Briefs, Lockout/Tagout reviews, and Job Hazard Analysis activities.
• Prepare materials for safety meetings.
• Develop written safety bulletins.
• Perform peer reviews of plant procedures.
• Lead formal Industrial Safety program assessments.
• Conduct accident and incident investigations.
• Prepare required reports.
• Review Statements of Work for contractor and construction activities.
• Complete monthly injury/illness reporting.
• Apply federal and state regulatory requirements during daily oversight.
• Exercise full stop‑work authority when needed.
• Support assigned projects.
• Keep management informed of any emerging safety concerns.
• Review analytical data and interpret results to ensure compliance with safety‑related standards.
