About The Position

This role involves performing safety inspection services for heavy-duty and light-duty trucks, with general knowledge of gasoline, diesel, and CNG systems. The inspector will assist drivers with pre-trip and post-trip inspections, conduct safety checks, communicate vehicle issues to technicians and drivers, and maintain accurate records. A clean and safe work area is essential, adhering to corporate and OSHA standards. The position also requires maintaining high ethical standards and dependability, following all safety policies, and occasionally performing route observations to ensure safety procedures are followed and to identify training needs.

Requirements

  • Ability to assist drivers with Pre/Post trip process
  • Ability to identify visible repairs required on vehicles: lights, mirrors, leaks, body damage etc.
  • Knowledge of tire inspections and air pressure adjustments
  • Basic computer skills as required.

Responsibilities

  • Aid/assist drivers in completion of the daily Post trip and vehicle safety inspection process.
  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment during Safety Lane and PM's.
  • Communication with A & B technicians /drivers as to issues with vehicles and discusses preventative techniques that may minimize future repairs.
  • Completes all required paperwork / computer data entry that may be required.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards which may include sweeping, organizing and maintaining the safety lane area.
  • Maintain high standard of Ethics and Dependability.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • On occasion, assist division by performing route observations to ensure safety procedures are followed. Complete route observation reports and discuss observations with drivers and helpers including safety issues, customer calls, route cleanliness and truck appearance. Identify training needs and review with driver. Maintain extra gloves/safety glasses, flyers, door hangers, pads, recycling bins and carts as applicable in vehicle.
