About The Position

Coordinate efforts to foster a positive, proactive safety culture in accordance with Norfolk Iron & Metal standards. This role involves facilitating the implementation and execution of the NIM Safety Management System and OSHA compliance programs, conducting safety orientations and training, and promoting employee involvement in safety processes. The coordinator will also manage hazard identification, incident reporting, root cause analyses, and conduct regular inspections and audits. Additionally, this position will develop and conduct safety and quality training, assist in directing training and process improvement initiatives, coordinate internal audits, and facilitate toolbox meetings and continuous improvement projects.

  • Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate implementation and execution of the NIM Safety Management System and OSHA compliance programs.
  • Conduct new hires safety orientation, ensure regular refresher training is provided, and audit safety training elements of warehouse job safety training.
  • Facilitate employee involvement in the safety process, such as safety committees, regular meetings, and participation in safety program activities.
  • Implement and maintain hazard identification and reporting processes and track corrective action responses.
  • Review and report incidents/injuries and lead root cause analyses for prevention.
  • Keep Branch Leadership Team informed on safety program efforts.
  • Conduct/facilitate regular inspections and audits of warehouse behaviors and conditions.
  • Assist management and supervisors in addressing safety policy violations and accidents/incidents.
  • Develop and conduct safety and quality training sessions for company personnel as directed.
  • Assist in directing the company's training and process improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate internal audits and management review meetings, preparing reports for continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate toolbox meetings and training sessions on quality and safety issues.
  • Coordinate continuous improvement projects and analyze Quality Management System processes.
