About The Position

Equipment & Controls, Inc. (ECI), an Emerson Impact Partner, is seeking a Safety Intern/Co-op to join their Operations team in Lawrence, PA. ECI serves a diverse customer base across various industries including oil and gas, chemical, power, food and beverage, and more. This role is an opportunity to contribute to ECI's vision of an accident-free workplace by managing safety systems, processes, and procedures. The intern will gain experience in maintaining safety logs, analyzing data for improvements, developing and delivering safety training, publishing reports, leading safety committees, supporting incident investigations, and fostering a culture of safety engagement.

Requirements

  • Experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a developed competency to influence others
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead teams including knowledge of basic facilitation techniques
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Must be an effective listener

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety or occupational health or technical discipline with significant related experience and exposure to OSHA general industry requirements

Responsibilities

  • Manages ECI safety systems, processes and procedures to accomplish our vision of an accident free workplace
  • Maintain required information (OSHA 300 log, ISNetworld, safety observations program and email, etc) and analyze data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Enhance and delivery safety training programs to support internal and customer requirements.
  • Publish weekly toolbox talks and monthly safety reports.
  • Provide leadership for internal safety committees.
  • Provide support for the incident investigation process for all safety incidents.
  • Create a safety culture of engagement for all employees
