About The Position

We are seeking a Safety Engineer to join our manufacturing team. The safety engineer will play a key role in developing, implementing, and overseeing safety procedures and programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. The position requires a proactive professional who is skilled in hazard identification, risk assessment, and employee training to maintain a culture of safety and reduce workplace incidents.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of PLCs, machine controls, interlocks, guarding, light curtains, and emergency stops, with the ability to identify control-related hazards.
  • Five or more years of progressive EHS experience, preferably involving automated equipment, stamping, machining, fabrication, or powder coating.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements, including machine guarding, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, PPE, hazardous materials, and environmental compliance.
  • Ability to lead audits, investigations, risk assessments, corrective actions, training, and accountability efforts.
  • Effective communication with employees, leadership, regulators, and auditors.
  • Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to effectively convey safety information.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment techniques, safety auditing, and accident investigation.
  • Analytical skills to assess safety and implement improvement strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • General understanding of PLC and other equipment controls for modern manufacturing.
  • Ability to balance expectations of compliance with operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Environmental Health, Occupational safety, or related working experience.
  • OHSA-30 certified.
  • Experience with Lockout/Tagout
  • Experience with ergonomic lifting
  • Experience with repetitive motion fatigue with mitigation
  • Experience with PIV Training
  • Experience with continuous improvement

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve safety protocols, guidelines, and procedures that align with industry standards and government regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, hazard assessments, and root-cause analyses to identify potential risks and ensure that corrective action is taken.
  • Lead investigations into accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents. Compile reports, determine causes, and work with leadership to implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver safety training for employees, contractors, and new hires to promote safe work practices.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation and industry standards.
  • Actively seek and propose new methods or technologies to enhance workplace safety and efficiency.
