About The Position

Meyer Contracting, Inc. is a 100% employee-owned Heavy Civil Contractor seeking a highly organized, dynamic, and energetic Safety Engineer. This role is crucial for assisting in the planning and implementation of safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The Safety Engineer will conduct safety surveys, investigations, and develop training programs to foster a safe working environment across our multifaceted operations, which include General Contracting, Earthwork, Underground Utilities, Demolition, and Foundations.

Requirements

Education in Safety and Health preferred
Strong interpersonal skills.
Detailed and organized
Excellent computer, communication and training skills
Overnight travel will be required
Must have an acceptable driver’s license and be able to pass a background check

Nice To Haves

OSHA10 and OSHA30
Safety experience in heavy civil construction, with a working knowledge of safety/environmental principles and technique

Responsibilities

Assists, plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
Conducts accident investigation and prepares report identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management.
Assists in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.
Conduct site specific safety orientation.
Maintains safety files and records.
Assists, plans and implements training for employees in work site safety practices.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
