About The Position

The Safety Engineer will support the space program located in Houston, Texas. This role involves serving as an active member of a high-performing safety team, providing safety support across the contract. The engineer will mentor management and employees, assist with procedure development, and review technical documents to ensure all requirements are met. Innovative and engaging techniques and technology platforms will be utilized for proactive employee engagement in the safety program. The position requires identifying, assessing, and communicating hazards, causes, and effects within industrial and aerospace test environments, and providing operational guidance to implement safe, environmentally responsible work practices and operational solutions. The engineer will independently analyze systems, equipment, and procedures, recommending safety criteria to control or eliminate hazards, and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, Johnson Space Center, and applicable state and local regulations. Conducting compliance audits to verify organizational adherence to requirements and supporting the delivery of regulatory-required training are also key responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Experience in the space industry or Department of Defense/Department of War.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent and related work experience.
  • 1-2 years of direct, hands-on safety experience.
  • Solid working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.
  • Team player with strong work ethics and must be culture oriented.
  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Organized with good time management skills.
  • Able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
  • Able to pass a national agency check.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Required to participate in periodic random drug and alcohol screenings.
