About The Position

Mortenson is currently seeking a Safety Engineer that will be Responsible for implementing Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety program at a project site and ensuring a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors to the construction work site. This position offers opportunities at both levels 1 and 2, allowing candidates to apply based on their experience and qualifications. Compensation for this role is determined based on factors such as experience and location.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or associate's degree in occupational safety, health, or related field preferred OR high school diploma with CHST or STS certification, OSHA 30 Hour training, and minimum five years of construction experience
• Previous related internship experience a plus
• Current driver’s license
• Detail-oriented, able to organize and manage multiple project tasks
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety-related software programs
• Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills
• Ability to interpret and communicate company policies
• Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
• Effective public speaking and presentation skills
• Effective communication and active listening skills, openness to diverse input and feedback
• Ability to travel up to 100%
• One year of related experience

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer safety program at each worksite
• Assist in developing site-specific safety activities
• Conduct safety orientation/training
• Document and track safety violations
• Conduct safety audits
• Analyze safety data
• Assist with major incident analysis
• Manage OSHA reporting
• Review safety submittals
• Monitor trade partner work plans
• Assist with onsite injury management
• Organize safety celebrations
• Participate in project planning/hazard analysis
• Provide safety-related information
• Evaluate industrial hygiene concerns
• Maintain knowledge of safety standards/regulations
• Serve as safety resource
• Attend/chair safety meetings
• Collaborate with client safety personnel, union representatives, insurance risk engineers
• Accompany safety/health/OSHA personnel on tours
• Ensure maintenance of safety equipment
• Manage PPE and safety budget
• Build effective relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
