About The Position

Plans, directs, and implements the organization's safety program to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment by performing the following duties personally or through supervisors. This role requires a self-starter with leadership capabilities and a working knowledge of OSHA regulations and implementation of safety programs in a manufactured housing facility.

  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
  • Prepares analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
  • Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
  • Aids in the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of findings and recommendations for reoccurrence.
  • Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Assists in the administration of the workers' compensation program.
  • Prepares and arranges safety exhibits and materials for display, promotional work, industry conferences, and exhibitions as needed.
  • Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.
  • Maintains safety files and records, both written and on the computer.
  • Ability to speak in front of groups and present training.
  • Basic computer skills pertaining to job function.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
