About The Position

The Safety Coordinator coordinates and enforces employee health and safety programs and promotes safety awareness to minimize work-related injuries. This role focuses on ensuring compliance, conducting inspections, and assisting with training and documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field (e.g., mechanical, industrial, chemical, nuclear), occupational health and safety, environmental science, or related discipline from an accredited institution is typically required.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; ability to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • OSHA certifications or related training (e.g., OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR)
  • Experience in conducting safety audits and inspections.
  • Proficiency in safety management software and tools for hazard identification and risk assessment.
  • Understanding of engineering principles and technology application in safety programs.
  • Familiarity with criticality computing platforms and software quality assurance for roles in nuclear safety
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and evaluate hazards and risks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects effectively

Responsibilities

  • Comprehends federal, state, and local safety regulations and ensures that the company is in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) guidelines.
  • Conduct safety walk-throughs and inspections
  • Maintain safety documentation (SDS, JHAs, etc.)
  • Assist with toolbox talks and safety meetings
  • Support audits and field-level implementation of policies
  • Drafts and updates safety training materials and trains staff on safety protocols and preventative measures.
  • Runs risk assessments on workspaces and presents reports to safety managers
  • Assists with the implementation of new safety procedures.
  • Performs root cause analysis on accidents and work hazards and proposes corrective actions.
