Requirements

  • Five to seven years of progressively more responsible related work experience in healthcare-based Environment of Care and Emergency Management experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, etc.), and Google Drive (Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to exhibit timely decision-making and adaptive leadership experience under stressful conditions.
  • Requires to be available 24 hours/ 7 days a week to respond to fire alarms.
  • Ambition to learn, motivated and strong communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in ergonomic evaluations and/or degree in related field preferred.
  • Fire/sprinkler experience is a plus or active member of a fire department.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing and monitoring safety management programs and initiatives for New Bridge Medical Center facilities across a wide geographic area.
  • Administering the day-to-day operations of an effective Respirator Program including N95 fit testing, ensuring employees complete required training, communicating fit testing needs to managers, maintaining a list of employees who have or require fit testing, conducting qualitative fit testing, loading medical clearances into employee training records, and performing both quantitative and qualitative fit testing where required.
  • Communicating with Human Resources to fit test new hires before their first day of orientation or as soon as possible.
  • Leading an effective ergonomic program including developing a train-the-trainer program, performing training to staff of proper patient transfer/repositioning, maintaining inventories of ergonomic equipment, performing routine ergonomic evaluations of employees, developing reports with recommendations, researching and recommending approved related equipment, scheduling and administering ergonomic safe patient handling meetings, and tracking/trending ergonomic safety injuries and reporting out to management.
  • Leading BNBMC into becoming a leader of sustainability by completing annual sustainability applications, implementing specific tasks with various departments to develop specific budgets, developing and implementing sustainability goals, training, and communications throughout the organization, and organizing team “Champions” in departments for recycling initiatives.
  • Working with inspectors from various environmental agencies (e.g.: COUNTY, DOH, EPA, DOT, OSHA, CMS, and The Joint Commission).
  • Conducting investigations regarding all employee incidents, analyzing and making recommendations for corrective action, and keeping all records current.
  • Conducting inspections and maintaining an inventory of ergonomic equipment for employees to “trial”.
  • Assisting the Safety/Security Director when needed.
  • Responding to fires and emergencies, carrying a cellphone, and being on call 24 hours for emergencies.
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with all hospital service lines and departments.
  • Participating in other working groups and committees.
  • Maintaining relevant documentation including up-to-date plans as well as meeting agendas, rosters, and minutes from meetings to ensure accreditation survey readiness at all times.
  • Adhering to legal and ethical standards.
  • Performing other duties as assigned, including duties and responsibilities of Safety as per the Safety/Security Director’s Job Description.
