MISSION: To recruit, develop, and lead a welcoming, prepared, and spiritually healthy Volunteer Safety Team that supports safe worship environments, assists people with care and clarity, and strengthens trust across the campus—so ministry can happen without distraction. The Safety Coordinator II exists to build, lead, and care for a thriving Volunteer Safety Team that protects people while reflecting the heart, hospitality, and ministry culture of the church. This role focuses on recruitment, leadership, training support, on-site coordination, and culture-building, while partnering closely with the Safety Coordinator I, who maintains primary responsibility for emergency response and safety SOPs. This position is part-time, 20 hours a week. OUTCOMES: 1. A Fully Staffed & Healthy Volunteer Safety Team Volunteer Safety Team roles are clearly defined, filled, and consistently staffed for all services and events. New volunteers are regularly recruited through church announcements, personal invitations, and relational outreach. Existing volunteers are assessed, aligned with expectations, and actively engaged. Volunteer retention improves due to strong relationships, clarity, and encouragement. 2. Strong Volunteer Leadership & Culture Volunteers feel known, valued, spiritually encouraged, and connected to one another. Regular team meetings, huddles, and team-building moments are planned and well attended. The culture of “Attend One & Serve One” is clearly communicated and modeled. Volunteers understand their role as helpers, guides, and servants, not just enforcers. 3. Effective On-Site Safety Leadership Safety Coordinator II is a visible, calm, and confident leader during all assigned services and events. Volunteers receive clear direction before, during, and after services. Safety measures are enforced with grace, hospitality, and consistency. Volunteers are supported in real-time decision-making and de-escalation. 4. Consistent Training & Preparedness Volunteers participate in regular training sessions supported by Safety Coordinator I. Training includes protocols, emergency response basics, de-escalation, incident stabilization, and reporting. Volunteers grow in confidence, clarity, and readiness over time. Training environments feel relational, encouraging, and ministry-focused. 5. Strong Collaboration & Communication Works in close alignment with Safety Coordinator I, respecting role clarity and responsibilities. Maintains positive working relationships with LVMPD and emergency partners during services/events. Communicates clearly with Facilities, Safety, and church leadership. Participates in bi-weekly Facilities and weekly Safety meetings and bi-weekly All Staff meetings and worship sessions, as much as possible. 6. Risk Awareness & Operational Support Assists with safety walkthroughs and identification of potential risks when requested. Provides accurate observations, feedback, and documentation to Safety Coordinator I. Supports safety initiatives without owning primary SOP review or revision. 7. Other tasks as needed
