About The Position

Provides technical guidance on all regulatory compliance and safety standards concerning electrical and other safety related matters. Assist managers and supervisors with staff training, job site safety audits. Drafts, reviews and revision of safety related processes and procedures. Leads the development and execution of a Safety-Focused organizational culture. To ensure regulatory compliance with all federal and state laws relating to safe work practices.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred, but not required, at least six (6) years of experience in an electric utility organization.
  • Previous safety experience in an electrical environment a plus.
  • The selected individual must be willing to obtain a TVPPA or equivalent safety program certification within 36 months of starting the position.
  • A commitment to ongoing educational development is essential for this role.
  • Comprehensive understanding of safe work practices, particularly in an electric utility environment, is essential.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of the cooperative electric industry and hazards associated with operation, maintenance, construction of electric utility lines., general warehouse/mechanic safety issues and normal office environment safety issues is required.
  • Knowledge of training programs and resources for training is required.
  • Familiar with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), National Electrical Code (NEC), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and other safety related standards.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement within the parameters of the Cooperative's policy/procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Should be able to organize, plan, direct, and control all aspects of the safety and training programs.
  • Must be able to use a personal computer efficiently and be able to develop skills in various software programs.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals and related laws.
  • Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence, as necessary.
  • Must be able to speak or communicate effectively with employees and members in person, through written forms or on the telephone is essential for this position.
  • Must have the earned the trust and respect of other employees of Warren RECC Corporative through the demonstration of following Warren RECC's safety rules and programs consistently.
  • Must be able to do outside work in all kinds of weather.
  • Overnight travel may be required.
  • Flexibility to work irregular work hours when business conditions require.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Certified in First Aid and CPR or willing to obtain Certification within 18 months of assignment into the position.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical assistance and guidance to Warren RECC employees and management staff as needed regarding the compliance requirements related to OSHA, KOSHA, DOT, and NESC.
  • Support incident response, assisting with emergency protocol, investigations, root cause analysis and documentation.
  • Conduct and document incident investigations and provide corrective actions as needed to prevent future occurrences.
  • Serves as a liaison between the KAEC Safety Coordinators and the Department/District Managers to schedule training and inspections of Warren RECC facilities and work sites.
  • Accompanies and assists local, state, or federal compliance representatives, during inspection of facilities and construction sites.
  • Leads the cooperative's efforts in meeting the qualifications of the NRECA Re: Safety Accreditation Program or "RESAP."
  • Analyze new regulations and explore methods to enhance organizational safety through new safety programs, new technologies, policies, or procedures.
  • Conducts new employee safety training for all positions.
  • Assists company insurance provider with the investigation of claims filed against Warren RECC and its insurance provider.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to the Warren RECC Safety Team and all Warren RECC employees about the importance of safety at work.
  • Works with the Safety Team to develop and implement programs that promote employee safety awareness and accident prevention.
  • Leads safety team in the development of effective programs/countermeasures that reduces and/or eliminates workplace incidents verifies/tests identified countermeasures will be effective before implementation.
  • Conducts on-site safety compliance reviews during normal business hours and during weekend and weeknight outages with Warren RECC crews.
  • Checks safety compliance of Contractor crews working on the Warren RECC System.
  • Conducts workplace hazards assessments maintains appropriate records.
  • Compiles and evaluates safety data providing technical and statistical information to Warren RECC management, federal and state regulatory agencies and the Board of Directors.
  • Develops and maintains Bloodborne Pathogen, Emergency Action Plans, Hazard Communication, and Confined Space Plans for all Warren facilities.
  • Maintains safety data sheets (SDS), MSDS Online updates, gathers and cross-references current chemical inventory data, adds new and removes old safety data sheets, and updates hard copy manual and Intranet.
  • Performs chemical inventory records and submits when schedule to the appropriate accounting department members.
  • Reviews GPS Fleet Management Driver records for violations of company safety policy and recommends appropriate action.
  • Works according to all policies and procedures adopted by Warren RECC is responsible for own safety and reports all accidents to supervisor.
  • Complies with traffic laws, regulations, and safe driving practices while operating any company vehicle as well as a personal vehicle operated on company business.
