About The Position

The Safety Associate, under the supervision of the Facilities Service Manager, will help provide a safe and secure environment for members, guests, and staff of the Ray & Joan Kroc Community Center of Chicago. Responsibilities include ensuring all policies and procedures are followed by everyone in the building, acting as a first responder to emergencies, performing duties as assigned by the Facilities Service Manager, and maintaining acceptable grooming standards. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, physically fit, able to work efficiently under pressure, and experienced in fast-paced environments, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of safety and security.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Familiarity with safety guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Physical stamina and strength.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Attention to details, to remain attentive and vigilant.
  • Time Management.
  • Problem solving: Addressing any issues that arise during the day.
  • Communication: Effectively communicating with team members and supervisors.
  • Safety awareness: Understanding and following safety protocols to prevent accidents.
  • Teamwork: Working collaboratively with other team members to achieve common goals.
  • Adaptability: Adjusting to changing work requirements and environments.
  • Customer Service: Interacting politely and professionally with guests and members.
  • A willingness to promote the mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce all Salvation Army/Ray & Joan Kroc Center policies and procedures.
  • Always remain alert and vigilant.
  • Follow safety guidelines to ensure all staff and guests are safe.
  • Interact with staff, members and guests in a positive professional manner.
  • Greet all guests and patrons as they enter the building.
  • Report on any safety concerns that arise to the Facilities Service Manager.
  • Monitors, secures, and restricts building ingress and egress as needed.
  • Perform safety checks, participate in drills and respond to emergencies as they arise.
  • Perform wanding or operate metal detectors as needed.
