About The Position

The Hun School of Princeton seeks a full-time Safety and Security Officer to provide service, protection, and safety to School assets while patrolling its forty-five-acre campus. This role supports the open, trusting, and friendly culture of the School. This is a full-time, twelve-month, benefit-eligible position reporting to the Director of Safety and Security.

Requirements

One year of successful experience performing in a position which requires a high level of service-oriented public contact.
Ability to act quickly, efficiently, and calmly in stressful situations.
Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
Commitment to good judgment, tact, sensitivity, and discretion.
Capacity to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Capability to stand, walk, and climb stairs for varying amounts of time during the shift.

Personal qualities including resilience, approachability, and kindness.
Valid driver's license.
Required passage of State of New Jersey Criminal Background check.

Nice To Haves

Law Enforcement experience or security officer experience working in a college, university and/or K-12 environment preferred.
Flexibility to occasionally work varying hours during special events, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Patrol all areas on campus to maintain visibility.
Observe all areas on campus for possible irregular or unusual activity or conditions that may create safety hazards or security concerns.
Provide assistance and collaboration on any safety and security related accidents and incidents.
Serve as a first responder for campus emergencies.
Assist with safety, security, crowd control and parking challenges during special events.
Manage parking challenges during the school day.
Monitor and instruct students, employees, and visitors on proper lawful and safe campus or facility behavior and conduct.
Warn violators of rule infractions in a professional-friendly manner.
Conduct building security assessments for all areas on campus to ensure doors, windows, equipment, and School vehicles are properly secure.
Schedule and conduct campus Emergency Drills.
Inspect and maintain all emergency equipment.
Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, which may be altered or redesigned as necessary.
