About The Position

The Safety & Compliance Specialist supports safe, compliant fleet operations by serving as a primary resource for driver safety and regulatory questions, concerns, monitoring and investigating driver events and incidents, and delivering coaching, counseling and remedial training. This role ensures accurate documentation and adherence to FMCSA/DOT requirements, company policies, and Hours-of-Service and inspection standards. This position is a nights position (anticipating 6pm to 6am).

Requirements

FMCSA and DOT regulations
ELD systems and log auditing
Strong documentation
Effective driver communication and coaching skills
Effective communication skills with all levels of co-workers
Standard Microsoft software and basic computer knowledge.
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience with FMCSA and DOT compliance
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and talking on the phone.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.

Nice To Haves

CDL- A driving experience or equal knowledge of a CMV operation.

Responsibilities

Respond to driver inquiries regarding safety and compliance matters.
Gather and accurately record detailed incident & accident information.
Monitor driver events and conduct needed inquiries when events occur.
Coordinate post-accident investigation & testing when necessary and reporting.
File and communicate any Physical Damage, Liability, and or Cargo claims to the assigned insurance company and or the TPA, if necessary.
Provide remedial training following violations or incidents.
Assign any and all disciplinary action the driver or contractor may receive.
Coach drivers on defensive driving, HOS compliance, inspections, and company policies.
Other duties as assigned by management.
