About The Position

GCP PAPER USA, Inc. is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Analyst to join our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team in Houston. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring plant-wide safety, hygiene, and environmental programs to cultivate a highly secure work environment. The ideal candidate will conduct safety risk assessments, lead comprehensive training initiatives, manage contractor compliance, and maintain strict documentation for ISO and OSHA standards to prevent workplace hazards and support maximum production efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of dedicated experience as a Safety Analyst, EHS Coordinator, or equivalent safety compliance role within an industrial manufacturing or production facility.
  • Practical knowledge of OSHA general industry standards, EPA waste regulations, emergency brigade response, fire-fighting equipment management, first aid, and ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 management frameworks.
  • Professional communication skills in English and Spanish preferred (targeting bilingual fluency with approximately 40% to 80% capability).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver technical safety training modules and daily 5-minute safety talks for plant personnel to ensure alignment with industrial safety instructions, health codes, and emergency guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) profiles and risk assessment matrices across all manufacturing positions to establish safe work instructions and reduce floor incidents.
  • Execute EHS orientation training for all incoming employees, operational operators, and external contractors; audit third-party contractor compliance files, including insurance certifications and safety records.
  • Supervise high-risk plant operations across all production zones and validate detailed risk assessments before authorizing mandatory hot work, confined space, or elevated work permits.
  • Monitor and document the collection, tracking, and legal disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous industrial waste streams, ensuring continuous maintenance of environmental logs and compliance bitacoras.
  • Compile, analyze, and track safety and environmental key performance indicators (KPIs) to present structural data during plant-wide leadership and indicator review meetings.
  • Administer and preserve documented IMS information, certificates, and validation records to meet active audit parameters for ISO 9001 (Quality) and ISO 14001 (Environmental) standards.
  • Record, monitor, and investigate plant safety near-misses or deviations to deploy effective corrective actions and promote a continuous culture of behavioral and environmental improvement.
  • Authorized to immediately halt any manufacturing process, contractor maneuver, or material flow if an imminent hazard or critical safety/environmental violation is detected.
