Provides a professional and calm attitude to the communications center and serves as a vital link in communication between staff, emergency responders, clients, and the public.

Must have the physical capacity to ride a bike or traverse continuously during an eight hour shift, with normal breaks (two fifteen minutes, and one thirty minute meal break).
Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions with provided inclement weather gear.
Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.

Responsibilities

Maintain all radio traffic, controlling any and all radio conversations.
Answer phones in a professional and friendly manner and frequently check voice mail for missed calls.
Prioritize duties to address the most urgent and important first, multitasking and responding to several calls at once.
Check for proper functioning of communication systems at the beginning of the shift, including radio transmission and reception, computer hardware and software functions, and availability of information and reporting notebooks.
Keep accurate and thorough records of all radio and phone communications, recording statistical information and documenting communications of incidents.
Utilize district information notebooks and computer search engines to locate information requested by field ambassadors to assist the public.
Implement emergency SOP's when situations dictate while maintaining a calm demeanor.
Proactively monitor CCTV cameras and report any illegal activity observed to the appropriate authorities (only at some locations).
Monitor outside entrances to the office and be aware of who is entering the building, potentially observing security camera monitors.
Keep the reception area clean and welcoming to guests (only at some locations).
