About The Position

This position is responsible for observing confidentiality regarding protected health information. The Safety Aide demonstrates positive communication, possesses tact, discretion, diplomacy and teamwork skills. They support the decisions of the treatment team. The ability to work under stress, write legibly, and document accurately is essential. The Safety Aide must be able to communicate patient observations to licensed and professional staff. Good organizational, priority setting, and communication skills are required. The Safety Aide must be self-motivated, observant, conscious of safety concerns in the immediate environment, and alert to small changes in behavior. The ability to recognize and intervene in potentially violent situations is crucial. The Safety Aide must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate and interact in a method appropriate for the age group to which the service is provided. The role also involves the ability to move and lift supplies up to 75 pounds and to safely move and transport patients using safe handling equipment.

Requirements

• High school level of knowledge.
• Behavior Management training required within 6 months of hire.
• BLS certification required or obtained within 3 months of hire/transfer.
• Ability to work under stress.
• Ability to write legibly.
• Ability to document accurately.
• Ability to communicate with patient observations to licensed and professional staff.
• Good organizational skills.
• Good priority setting skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Must be self motivated.
• Must be observant.
• Must be conscious of safety concerns in the immediate environment.
• Must be alert to small changes in behavior.
• Ability to recognize and intervene in potentially violent situations.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum one year experience working with persons suffering from mental illness, alcoholism or substance abuse preferred.
