About The Position

rcs construction inc. is on the lookout for a Safety Advisor to join our team based in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. As an integral part of our Safety team, the Safety Advisor will play a key role in supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of our Safety First & Always Program, ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) legislation and fostering a proactive safety culture across all active job sites.

Requirements

  • Certificate or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (or related field), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 - 3 years relevant experience supporting multi-site operations in commercial and / multi-level residential construction
  • Proficient with safety management systems, Microsoft 365, digital forms/QR codes; able to build basic reports/dashboards and maintain data accuracy.
  • Strong working knowledge of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Act, with the ability to apply legislative requirements in day-to-day safety practices.
  • Ability to visit active job sites and wear required PPE; occasionally lift/move safety supplies (up to 30 lbs).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; ability to travel between job sites across Newfoundland.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence delivering training and safety messaging
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across project teams
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between job sites as needed

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Safety First & Always Program across active construction sites
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety legislation, regulations, and company policies across all projects
  • Conduct site inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments to identify risks and drive corrective actions
  • Lead incident investigations and root-cause analyses, supporting prevention and continuous learning
  • Deliver safety orientations, training sessions, and toolbox talks to employees and subcontractors
  • Maintain and manage safety documentation, including training records, inspections, and hazard assessments
  • Collaborate with project teams, clients, and subcontractors to promote safe work practices and align on safety expectations
  • Support safety audits and contribute to corrective action planning and safety performance improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate JOHSC activities, including meetings, minutes, and action item tracking
  • Ensure safety equipment, tools, and resources are available, inspected, and properly maintained across all job sites
