Safety Advisor
About The Position
SMG is seeking a Safety Advisor – Construction for a construction project in Lebanon, Indiana, on the night shift. The Safety Advisor puts safety first, prioritizes client needs, works effectively with a team, manages their work independently, and adapts to change and travel. The role is performed in a construction environment and is anticipated to last six months to one year. The anticipated schedule is 13 days on and one day off, for up to 10 hours per day; the schedule may change. SMG full-time, benefitted Associates are eligible for premium pay after working 40 billable hours in a week, paid at a 1.35 multiplier. Per diem is available to non-local candidates only and is $980 per week for this project. The position also includes a $400 monthly Road Warrior Benefit and an annual pay/merit review and increase.
Requirements
- Five or more years of construction safety experience.
- First-aid/CPR certification from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
- OSHA 30-hour Construction training.
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
- The role may require moving long distances, ascending and descending stairs and ladders, remaining stationary for prolonged periods, working in extreme weather, exposure to loud noises, and correctly wearing personal protective gear.
Nice To Haves
- BSCP certification preferred, such as CSP, CHST, or STSC.
- A degree in safety or a related field is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and document site safety observations.
- Create reports, run safety metrics, and use other software programs.
- Conduct Job Hazard Analyses.
- Represent the contractor in progress meetings.
- Verify compliance with safety policies and procedures required by law, the Owner, and contractors.
- Conduct new-hire orientations and safety meetings.
- Provide incident management and support.
- Prepare documentation and reports.
- Conduct contractor program reviews.
