About The Position

Total Group of Companies is currently looking for Safety Advisors local to Ottawa and the near vicinity. Safety Advisors support field crews, contractors, and client representatives by helping maintain safe work practices, identifying hazards, supporting site safety requirements, and promoting a positive safety culture. Work may take place in industrial, construction, restoration, turnaround, or remote project environments.

Requirements

• NCSO designation or equivalent experience
• CSO designation or equivalent experience
• HSO designation or equivalent experience
• HSE designation or equivalent safety background
• Previous experience in a Safety Advisor, HSE, CSO, HSO, or similar field safety role
• Comfortable with travel and staying in remote locations when required
• Able to work independently and communicate clearly with crews, supervisors, and clients
• Strong attention to detail, documentation, and site safety processes
• Positive, professional, and team-focused attitude
• Valid driver’s license preferred

Nice To Haves

• Completion of an Occupational Health and Safety certificate, diploma, or related safety program is considered an asset
• CRST or CRSP designation is considered a strong asset
• Additional industry-related safety training, tickets, or professional designations are considered assets, including First Aid, H2S Alive, CSTS, Confined Space, Fall Protection, and WHMIS

Responsibilities

• Supporting site personnel with daily safety expectations and safe work practices
• Completing site safety observations, inspections, and hazard assessments
• Assisting with orientations, toolbox talks, and safety meetings
• Monitoring work activities for compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements
• Supporting incident, near-miss, and hazard reporting processes
• Reviewing documentation such as FLHAs, permits, JHAs, and safety paperwork
• Communicating professionally with workers, supervisors, and client representatives
• Promoting a positive, proactive, and solutions-focused safety culture
