About The Position

ARES Corporation is seeking a highly motivated Safety and Mission Assurance Technical Analyst to support our Commercial Space efforts. This role involves critical work with United Launch Alliance (ULA) in advancing NASA’s Artemis program and lunar exploration goals. The position is offered as a remote role, with potential hybrid or onsite opportunities for candidates in the Denver area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in spacecraft systems analysis and human spaceflight safety and mission assurance practices, including:
  • Experience performing detailed FMECA at component/sub-component level for complex flight systems
  • Proficiency in hazard analysis and development of Hazard Reports per NASA or MIL-STD processes
  • Strong familiarity with spacecraft subsystems: avionics, propulsion, GN&C, communications, mechanisms, thermal control
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and customer interactions.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to thrive in a remote work setting.
  • BS/BA degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field with 6+ years of professional experience in human spaceflight, systems engineering, reliability, safety, or mission operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior involvement with launch vehicle programs or similar cryogenic upper stages.
  • Experience in mission operations, console training, or procedure development for crewed missions.
  • Familiarity with the Artemis program, SLS, or commercial crew initiatives.
  • Residence in or willingness to occasionally travel to the Denver, Colorado area for enhanced customer engagement opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and evaluate spacecraft subsystems such as avionics, propulsion systems, guidance navigation and control (GN&C), communications, mechanical, thermal control, and more.
  • Conduct detailed Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) for the Centaur V upper stage at the component and sub-component levels to ensure reliability and safety for human spaceflight.
  • Develop and support System Safety products with a focus on creating comprehensive Hazard Reports.
  • Perform Human Certification support tasks, including gap analyses and risk assessments relative to NASA design and construction standards.
  • Contribute to mission operations preparation, including development of procedures, console displays, flight rules, and training materials for off-nominal scenarios involving telemetry analysis and failure simulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on simulations, operator training, and potentially direct console support for Centaur V operations.
