About The Position

The S.A.F.E. (Students Achieving for Excellence) Program Coordinator will operate and lead the before and after school program at Ernest Stapleton Elementary. This role involves assisting with hiring and training program staff, supervising staff, managing payroll and finances, and developing and implementing enrichment activities for elementary-aged children. The coordinator will communicate with school staff, families, and students, develop and manage program budgets, and maintain community partnerships. This position also involves resource development, grant writing, record keeping, and collaborating with other S.A.F.E. coordinators to develop program policies. The coordinator must comply with district safety guidelines and ethical standards.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree related to education or enrichment field, preferably with an emphasis in early childhood, elementary, or community education
  • Three-five (3-5) years in a supervisory role
  • Familiarity with budgeting and/or fiscal background related to the New Mexico Public Education Department
  • Experience working with children in a before and after school program, camp, or school setting
  • Good communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of and experience in developing enrichment programs for elementary aged children
  • Knowledge of and experience with office procedures
  • Supervisory and management skills
  • Budgeting and procurement skills
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must comply with the safety guidelines of the Rio Rancho Public School District

Responsibilities

  • Operate and lead the (S.A.F.E.) before and after school program at one elementary school
  • Assist with hiring program staff for before and after school program called Students Achieving for Excellence (S.A.F.E.)
  • Train and supervise program staff
  • Oversight, support, and management of staff, payroll for staff, and financial management
  • Supervise S.A.F.E. staff
  • Identify, implement, and monitor enrichment activities within S.A.F.E.
  • Communicate effectively with principal, school staff, families, and students for appropriate school age programming during non-school hours
  • Develop and schedule enrichment programming
  • Coordinate with appropriate community volunteers and vendors and the Director of Student Services for execution of proposed activities
  • Continue to develop a positive district-wide model and coordinate all activities through each S.A.F.E. school’s administration
  • Develop and manage budgets for all S.A.F.E. program activities
  • Develop a comprehensive list of programs and activities for children enrolled in the S.A.F.E. program
  • Work collaboratively and maintain community partnerships with outside vendors and agencies to develop enrichment initiatives
  • Provide recommendations to supervisor for program changes, innovation, and develop alternative funding sources
  • Assist in resource development/fundraising and with grant writing
  • Maintain records of activities and program participation, and perform clerical duties as necessary
  • Prepare an annual report with surveys to parents, staff, and students
  • Collaborate with the Director of Student Services and other S.A.F.E. coordinators to develop appropriate policies for the operation of the S.A.F.E. before and after-school programs
  • Comply with state-approved New Mexico Administrative Code of Ethical Responsibility of the Education Profession and the RRPS Employee Standards of Conduct and uphold and enforce rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the district
