About The Position

Revant's prescription lens program transforms customer prescriptions into perfectly fitted eyewear. The Rx & Services Technician is crucial to this process, operating specialized optical equipment to cut, edge, and mount lenses according to exact patient prescriptions. This role involves inspecting finished products against strict optical standards and tolerances, working closely with Quality and Production teams to create finished eyewear and continuously improve processes. The ideal candidate is an ABO-certified optical professional with a passion for hands-on craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a desire to contribute to a growing lens program.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (or equivalent) required
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in an optical laboratory
  • Advanced proficiency with optical terminology and lensometry
  • Previous experience using layout blockers, edgers, and manual groovers
  • American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certification required
  • High level of precision to ensure accurate focus and optical alignment.
  • Ability to distinguish colors and read precise numbers on prescriptions and measuring tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret optical prescriptions and follow technical manuals.
  • Comfort with standing for extended periods and performing tasks that require manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality, consistently meeting optical standards and tolerances.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities to meet production timelines and deadlines.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to coordinate with the Quality team and Production and Fulfillment team.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort operating, calibrating, and troubleshooting specialized lab equipment.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices in a production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and calibrate specialized edging and blocking machines to cut optical lenses to exact patient prescriptions.
  • Mount and secure finished lenses into metal, plastic, or rimless frames using precision hand tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of lab equipment to ensure safe and continuous operation.
  • Inspect finished products using lens meters and precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with prescription standards and tolerances.
  • Repair and adjust frames to ensure a comfortable fit for the patient.
  • Operate tracing and edging equipment to generate lens shape files for the Prescription and Custom Cut program.
  • Efficiently and thoroughly inspect, clean, and receive customer frames.
  • Partner with the Maintenance & Production Supervisor to alert of any machine errors or tool breakage.
  • Continually drive efficiencies and work closely with the Quality Manager to develop CAD processes and systems that reduce costs.
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as outlined by the Quality Manager.
  • Other duties as required.
