About The Position

This role is for a RWE Strategy Lead Developed Brands, Immunology within the HTA and Payer Team. The position is hybrid, requiring a minimum of 40% on-site presence and 5-10% domestic and international travel. The role involves leading the development and execution of global real-world evidence (RWE) strategies to support the value, safety, effectiveness, and patient impact of UCB’s therapies. It requires identifying critical evidence needs for existing product lifecycles and translating them into integrated RWE, epidemiology, outcomes research, and data strategies. These strategies will inform regulatory, market access, reimbursement, and business decisions, while also supporting and expanding patient access. The role demands a deep understanding of evidence generation, healthcare data, and the external landscape, driving the use of innovative study designs, registries, real-world data sources, and emerging technologies to address evidence gaps. Success hinges on scientific expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence complex evidence agendas while balancing diverse stakeholder needs and long-term business priorities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree, PhD, MD, or equivalent advanced degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR), Biostatistics, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or academic sectors with demonstrated involvement in evidence generation, clinical development, market access, regulatory, and/or payer-related initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of real-world evidence (RWE), epidemiology, outcomes research, and healthcare data sources.
  • Experience developing evidence strategies that support regulatory, reimbursement, clinical, and business decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex initiatives and influence stakeholders in a matrix environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Big Data and AI is an advantage
  • Formal training in epidemiological research methods, outcomes research, health economics, or related quantitative disciplines.
  • Experience developing and executing integrated RWE strategies for or with pharmaceutical assets across multiple stages of the product lifecycle.
  • Prior leadership experience, including mentoring, coaching, and developing individuals or leading cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise supporting health authority, payer, HTA, or market access interactions through evidence generation.
  • Experience in Immunology, Dermatology, Respiratory, or other specialty therapeutic areas.
  • Familiarity with innovative study designs, registries, external data sources, AI-enabled technologies, and advanced evidence-generation methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and co-lead integrated real-world evidence (RWE), epidemiology, outcomes research, and data strategies that support UCB’s assets across the product lifecycle.
  • Identify evidence gaps and define research plans that address regulatory, market access, reimbursement, safety, and patient-centered evidence needs.
  • Shape evidence-generation strategies using real-world data, registries, external control arms, innovative study designs, and other fit-for-purpose methodologies.
  • Anticipate evolving scientific, regulatory, and business challenges and translate them into actionable evidence solutions and investments.
  • Oversee the execution of RWE studies and programs, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality and governance standards.
  • Drive alignment across complex evidence-generation activities, balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders while maximizing impact and efficiency.
  • Provide strategic guidance on topics including disease burden, natural history, comparative effectiveness, long-term outcomes, drug utilization, safety commitments, and health technology assessment requirements.
  • Leverage emerging technologies, including AI-enabled approaches, to enhance data strategy, evidence generation, and decision-making.
  • Mentor and develop RWE talent while contributing to the continued growth of evidence-generation capabilities across the broader organization.
  • Represent UCB externally through engagement with scientific experts, research partners, and industry initiatives to advance the use and impact of real-world evidence.
