About The Position

The Russian River Fish Technician will perform duties under the direction of the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and U. S. Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS). Responsibilities include raking fish waste back into the main current of the Russian and Kenai Rivers, picking up trash and monofilament line, sharing educational messages with visitors, recording the amount and location of fish waste, and recording bear activity. This position involves working in the field, typically in pairs with another Kenaitze Russian River Fish Technician. The schedule is Thursday-Sunday, requiring weekend work, and the position runs seasonally from early June to late August.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), or currently enrolled.
  • Knowledge of Kenaitze Dena'ina values and history.
  • Valid Alaska Driver License and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, or obtain training within 90 days of hire
  • Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful and kind when dealing with un'ina, visitors, co-workers and others
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, and meet deadlines
  • This position is a Covered Position subject to all requirements of the Alaska Barrier Crimes Act (ABCA) and to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, (ICPA). ABCA and ICPA requirements apply and must be complied with at all times in order to remain in the position
