This is a full-time project position, currently funded through 10/30/30. This home-based (remote) position is open to Washington residents and those on the ID/WA and OR/WA borders. Field work will be communicated in advance and is expected about 4 times per year in rural areas across WA state. The mission of the Department of Health (DOH) is to protect and improve the health of people in Washington State. Within the Executive Office of Prevention, Safety & Health, the Center for Whole Person Care (CAWPC) champions a vision of equitable access to comprehensive health and social services for all individuals across the state. CAWPC’s mission focuses on fostering partnerships, addressing health inequities through data-driven insights, strengthening health systems and workforce capacity, and amplifying community voices to ensure high-quality, whole person care. The Rural Workforce Incentives (RWI) Program Coordinator oversees the administration of up to $10 million in recruitment & retention incentives to strengthen the health workforce, with particular focus in rural areas. The RWI Coordinator is responsible for a large portfolio of contract management, facilitates health care sector partnerships, and applies program accountability to ensure public funds produce measurable and lasting improvements in rural health workforce resilience and capacity. This position is located in CAWPC within the J-1 Visa Waiver, Rural Workforce Incentives and Grow Your Own grants (JRIG) unit and reports to the JRIG Director. This unit works to increase the capacity of the health care system by investing in strategic approaches to bolster the health care workforce.
