About The Position

The Rubber Machine Operator is responsible for producing molded products from rubber or plastic compounds, ensuring continuous operation of machines, and maintaining product specifications. This role involves observing machine operations, detecting jams or malfunctions, making adjustments, and inspecting products for defects using precision measuring instruments. Operators will also position and secure work pieces, regulate machine settings (pressure, temperature, speed, feed rates, cycle times), remove finished products, trim excess material, grind scrap plastic, and cool products to prevent distortion.

Responsibilities

  • Produces molded products or parts from pre-mixed standard rubber or plastic compounds.
  • Observes continuous operation of automatic machines to ensure products meet specifications and to detect jams or malfunctions, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Measures and visually inspects products for surface and dimension defects using precision measuring instruments.
  • Positions and secures work pieces on machines and starts feeding mechanisms.
  • Turns valves and dials of machines to regulate pressure, temperature, and speed and feed rates, and to set cycle times.
  • Removes finished or cured products from dies or molds using hand tools, air hoses, and other equipment.
  • Trims excess material from parts using knives.
  • Grinds scrap plastic into powder for reuse.
  • Cools products after processing to prevent distortion.
  • Sets quality standards and ensures standards are met.
  • Trains and communicates policies and procedures.
  • Audits and analyzes processes.
  • Measures production and reports results.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships by working closely with employees, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Primarily operates a rubber injection machine.
  • Operates pinning press in an efficient manner to press stainless steel pins into post of part.
  • Paints adhesive primer to post of parts efficiently, avoiding spills and transfer of primer on other areas besides the post of part.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment by following cleanliness and safety standards, and complying with regulations.
