About The Position

The RTM & NA Inbound Network Design and Cost Analyst (Efficiencies, MCC, Warehousing, New Model, MFE, PF) role presents an exciting opportunity to take on a role in a critical area in our current Supply Chain climate. Apply your MP&L and Supply Chain knowledge to drive Cost and Efficiency to our Transportation Network.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong CMMS3 knowledge
  • Rail / Intermodal Carrier Operations Experience
  • Experience with CMMS3 Data/Datamart/Alteryx or other Data Analytical Tools
  • Strong understanding of MP&L (CMMS, Data Warehouse) and Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) systems.
  • Travel maybe be required to the plants, External Warehouses, Provider Sites.
  • Weekend work may be required on an exception basis.
  • Ability to create presentations with clear objectives that tailor your content to your audience’s interests, knowledge level and needs.

  • Strong supply chain and Plant Experience Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement freight efficiencies to achieve the assigned plants calendarized and annualized targets.
  • Develop logistics commodity strategies with Transportation Purchasing Organization.
  • Develop equipment & routing specs for Request for Quote with Transportation Purchasing.
  • Publish supplier shipping instructions, daily change management; including responding to operating plan changes.
  • Support TPO in helping carriers react to changes at least cost.
  • Manage inbound freight cost by identifying and implementing improvements and tracking physicals.
  • Identify cost savings through sourcing changes and density changes.
  • Cube Utilization metrics, Planned to Actual metrics.
  • Audit and dispute logistics provider billing discrepancies.
  • Review & Approve TONU, Approve Plant Requested pull-aheads, etc…
  • Interface with Plant Group Managers and MP&L Managers to manage logistics related issues between plants, suppliers and carriers.
  • MEL Meeting & metrics, Cost Reviews (with LLP Logistics Analyst).
  • Demurrage/detention tracking and adjudication for Rail and Intermodal.
  • Monitoring Cube Utilization, Brokering, Add/Cancel metrics, Rack Return-to-plan.
  • Execute Forward Model Logistics plans in conjunction with the LLP and affected plant(s).
  • Interface with Lead Logistics Provider to ensure quality and timely delivery of services.
  • Monitor via weekly Plant Launch call.
  • Support reductions in LLP Management fee. This also includes managing changes in LLP staffing to support shift, complexity and volume changes.
  • Support reduction in premium freight cost by ensuring proper float levels of in plant inventory.
  • Create 5% year over year save on long term purchase order agreements.
  • Achieve a reduction in brokering for key carriers utilizing Data Warehouse reports and detailed brokering & book of business reviews.
  • Maintain or improve 5.8 sigma rating for overall quality performance level for production disruptions.
  • Support new product launches in with zero production losses due to logistics failures.
  • Use Data and Performance Metrics to Develop Standards and Strategies based on Origin for float, transportation, and method of origin to reduce overall Transportation Cost including TONU, Detention/Demurrage Cost and Premium Freight.
  • Develop Standards and Strategies to Create a “Plan for Every Part” based on Transportation Flow including Routing, Float and Shipping Standards.
  • Interface with TPO on contracts for Transportation Provider Contracts.
  • Drive Optimal Window Times to the plants and Penske PLC teams to drive Optimal Window Times and Transportation Flow into our Plants.
  • Use our Pull Ahead Tools to Drive Improved KPIs for Cube and Rack Utilization.
  • Align our Cost to Production to Schedule and find creative ways to lessen the impact to our Transportation Network.
  • Lead efforts to use Telematics to help reduce our costs in Premium Freight and Accessorial Costs.
