About The Position

The RSMS Technician handles incoming trouble calls from rigs and maintenance, remotely monitors and troubleshoots equipment, captures and communicates organizational learnings, assists field personnel, and supports improved performance across H&P’s land drilling fleet. The role is based on-site in the Tulsa, Oklahoma office during day-hitch rotations; relocation to Tulsa is not required. The Technician works a rotating 14/14 shift to provide 24/7 call-center coverage. The position involves diagnosing rig control-system problems remotely, supporting field maintenance troubleshooting, coordinating high-priority repairs, analyzing rig data, and communicating fleet status and technical findings. The Technician also works with field, engineering, IT, networking, operations, and vendor personnel to resolve technical issues and keep remote diagnostic equipment operational.

Requirements

Strong technical background with advanced knowledge of electrical, electronic, and instrumentation systems, prints, schematics, and test equipment.
Proficient PC skills and Microsoft Office application skills, with an emphasis on Excel.
Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and technical writing skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Flexible and team-oriented.
Oil and gas industry experience.
Work on-site in the Tulsa office during day-hitch rotations and work a rotating 14/14 shift for 24/7 call-center coverage.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree plus two years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field; preferred but not required.
At least one year of formal training and 5+ years of experience in electrical and electronics theory and troubleshooting; or 4+ years of experience as an H&P Electrician; or 2+ years as an H&P Electrician plus 3+ years of experience in electrical and electronics theory and troubleshooting. These qualifications are preferred but not required.
Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Spanish-speaking ability.

Responsibilities

Remotely diagnose problems with rig control-system components, including programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, control networks, and HMI computers.
Provide troubleshooting support to field maintenance personnel using logical troubleshooting methods.
Coordinate maintenance, operations, engineering, and third-party vendor efforts to expedite high-priority repairs.
Retrieve and analyze historical information from rig dataloggers and other resources for troubleshooting, post-event reconstruction, and performance and reliability improvement.
Prepare PowerPoint and multimedia presentations to promote organizational learning across the H&P land drilling fleet.
Serve as the primary liaison between field personnel and engineering for technical inquiries.
Prepare standardized daily reports communicating the status of the H&P rig fleet.
Write journal entries and call reports documenting rig issues, affected systems, symptoms, operational impact, failed components, corrective actions, and repair time.
Prepare and facilitate conference calls with H&P districts.
Identify equipment and drilling performance trends and recommend improvements to maintenance and drilling practices.
Remotely monitor drilling operations and rig alarm conditions and relay information to maintenance personnel and operations so they can initiate corrective actions.
Coordinate with rig, information technology, and networking personnel to ensure remote diagnostic equipment is operational.
