About The Position

World Relief seeks a Refugee School Impact (RSI) Mommy & Me Program Specialist to lead parent-child classes for refugee families with children ages birth to two years. The specialist facilitates engaging activities that promote early learning, healthy child development, school readiness foundations, positive parenting practices, and family bonding. This role creates a welcoming environment where parents gain knowledge, confidence, and skills to support their young children's growth while building connections with other families and community resources. This position has a hybrid schedule: 3 days in the office, 2 work from home days.

  • Valid drivers license, access to reliable vehicle and ability to pass MVR standards
  • Experience working with children ages birth to three years and their caregivers.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and family engagement strategies.
  • Curriculum implementation, including writing daily lesson plans.
  • Comfort in leading and guiding class for 1-hour timeframe, four days a week.
  • Detail-oriented-maintaining proper documentation of clients and services provided by RSI Mommy & Me for reporting and auditing requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills. The ability to gain clients’ trust and make them feel valued and safe.
  • Able to work effectively and professionally in environments characterized by frequent change and ambiguity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and basic data entry.
  • Cross cultural experience.
  • Social work background.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Family Studies, Social Work, Education, Human Services, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Experience facilitating parent education or family literacy programs
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and refugee resettlement issues.
  • Experience working with refugee, immigrant, or multilingual populations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead weekly Mommy & Me classes, coordinating lessons, supplies and classroom plans, four mornings a week for 1 hour per class.
  • Conduct age-appropriate activities that support language development, motors skills, social-emotional growth, cognitive development, and early literacy.
  • Facilitate songs, storytelling, sensory play, movement activities, and hands-on learning experiences.
  • Model positive parent-child interactions and encourage active caregiver participation.
  • Provide parent education and family support through information on child development, early learning practices, nutrition, attachment, health and safety, at home learning and school readiness.
  • Setup and tear down of classroom settings daily.
  • Coordinate church partner volunteers to help serve in classes.
  • Assist in the organization of classroom space and collaborate closely with English Language Instruction department and RSI Preschool Classes.
  • Keep daily records of attendance and services offered. Update files as required.
  • Communicate with parents regarding family participation, community resources, and support services.
  • Meet regularly with RSI Supervisor and Education Programs Manager.
  • Assist in all aspects of grant compliance.
  • Attend Staff Meetings (both RSI, Education and All staff).
  • Any additional tasks deemed necessary for program success.
