Provides routine daily nursing care in accordance with facility and state/federal guidelines. This role involves maintaining an active working relationship with the nursing team and ancillary departments, promoting customer satisfaction and positive interpersonal relationships, and participating in giving and receiving reports. The Medication Aide demonstrates the ability to perform nursing assistant duties, actively participates in care conferences and meetings, and attends scheduled training. They ensure resident privacy and rights are maintained, review resident aide care sheets, and ensure vital signs and weights are completed as scheduled. The position also includes performing restorative care, following work assignments, practicing good hygiene, and assuming added duties as assigned. The Medication Aide must be able to obtain pertinent resident information, plan and prioritize actions, perform daily hygiene and appearance tasks, and demonstrate proper lifting and transferring techniques. They implement special care needs, assist residents with diet and fluids, recognize and provide relief for physical distress, and report observed symptoms or needs. The role encourages resident freedom of choice, participation in self-care, and assistance with prosthetics. Effective communication with residents, families, and team members, adherence to safety and infection control procedures, and compliance with regulatory agencies are essential.
