About The Position

Under very limited supervision, this role is responsible for creating and producing placards, identification plates, vinyl spray painting masks, and performing wire stamping. This may include final placard installation. The Tech Sr requires 4 years of experience with graphic design and proficiency with all Placard/Marking shop equipment. This role also assists engineering in defining placard specifications by creating graphics and descriptions that engineering can directly use in their specification documents. The position coordinates operations and support with outside departments and assists and trains lower-level technicians.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
4 years graphic design experience.
Proficiency on all major shop equipment to include Foil printer, sign cutter, engraver, and wire stamper.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications that are specific to producing placards, ID plates, spray masks and wire stamping.
Possess a working knowledge of the Gulfstream Policies and Procedures manual, Inspection Procedures manual, and pertinent Process Specifications.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice To Haves

Assists engineering in defining placard specifications and by creating graphics and descriptions that engineering can directly use in the engineering placard specification documents.
Coordinates operations and support with outside departments to include off site departments as required.
Assists and trains lower level technicians.
Additional software or machine operating systems may become required as equipment needs dictate.

Responsibilities

Maintains knowledge of current firmware requirements and produces Gulfstream placard variations accurately and efficiently.
Researches aircraft drawings to locate and verify approved placards for specific aircraft serial numbers.
Utilizes CMP to progress and inspect aircraft placards as needed.
Reads and interprets Completions customer specifications and engineering drawings/specifications to determine the proper color, font, dimension, and materials required for aircraft placards or identification plates, and to create spray masking, as well as perform wire stamping.
Uses Adobe Illustrator, pdf files and Gerber Omega software to accurately draw, layout, and produce aircraft placards.
Uses sign cutting equipment to produce masking per Exterior Markings Drawings requirements for exterior paint application on Gulfstream aircraft.
Produces placards that require foreign languages to meet foreign aircraft registration requirements.
Maintains proper documentation of all work to include traceability of materials used during manufacturing to ensure compliance with all inspection and FAA requirements.
Uses precision tools to verify fabricated placards and identification plates meet all engineering requirements, which may include installation.
Performs daily maintenance on equipment used.
Complies with all standard operating procedures as well as safety and housekeeping policies.
Adapts to sudden changes in schedule and priorities.
Contributes to developing and implementing process improvements that improve safety and reduce cost using Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement techniques.
Monitors and maintains department materials inventory.
Monitors aircraft schedules to support materials requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
