About The Position

The RS Master Craftsperson Sr is a technical expert responsible for performing repairs on installations that require a high degree of accuracy and timeliness. This role involves functioning independently in a team-oriented work environment. The position requires a thorough knowledge of manufacturing procedures and specifications, plant safety, tooling, and quality requirements. The candidate will also be familiar with CATIA V5 and Solumina software, and must have a proven track record of troubleshooting manufacturing or installation processes. Proficient knowledge of various machinery and processes is essential, including but not limited to metalworking, composite work, upholstery, and finishing techniques. Strong communication and leadership skills are necessary to impart knowledge to other employees. The role also involves physical demands such as lifting 50 pounds, climbing ladders/stairs, and working in confined spaces. The ability to work any shift and communicate effectively in English is required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Fifteen (15) years extensive experience in production/manufacturing/service center.
  • Specialized experience in the precise installation and removal of avionics systems with aircraft cabinetry, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency in EWIS, including navigation, troubleshooting, and utilization for workflow optimization and documentation management.
  • Experience with Catia, Smart Team, BOM Assembly Travelers, loading new components to CMP, Corridor, wire harness process specs and conformity.
  • Ability to streamline the conformity process when completing a mechanical drawing that incorporates electrical components.
  • Experience working directly with back shops and utilizing avionic install experience, coordinating materials and progressives necessary for meeting install schedule.
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing procedures and specifications, plant safety, tooling, and quality requirements.
  • Familiar with CATIA V5 and Solumina software.
  • Must have an established track record of troubleshooting manufacturing or installation processes.
  • Proficient knowledge of all applicable machinery and processes necessary to perform the job including but not limited to (lathe, mill, surface grinder, contour roller, cold working tools, general sheet metal tools, UV curable coatings, sanding equipment, table saw, drill press, router, chop saw, time saver, jointer, planner, band saw, edge banding sander, disk sanders, resaw Foam Saws, Pin saw, general Upholstery tools, Surgers, Sewing machine, toning, stripping (chemical/heat), touch-up, spraying, buffing, staining, painting, paint color matching, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess leadership skills and the ability to communicate and impart knowledge to all MBU employees.
  • Must have ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders/stairs, work in small spaces and/or restricted areas.
  • Must be able to work any shift.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years technical or trade school training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical functions such as correct methods of manufacturing, sequence of operations, and methodology of assemblies and installations, as well as detail components.
  • Troubleshoot any problem areas in tooling, production, assembly, aircraft systems and operations, composites, etc., to determine cause and pursue preventative actions with proper liaison which improves production efficiency and product quality.
  • Assist in problem solving to establish or correct planning methods for producing parts and using tooling efficiently by utilizing standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
  • Interact with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Control to troubleshoot problems and implement solutions.
  • Organize, develop (with assistance of the Training Department) and administer an Employee Skills Development Program.
  • Identify and develop training requirements for tooling, test equipment, and other areas.
  • Support Lean activities.
  • Maintain neat and organized work area; support 6S, FOD and other company programs as required.
  • Perform tasks assigned to department mechanics or leads during their absence, when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
