About The Position

As the RRTS Supervisor, you will oversee the work of Caseworkers in the assigned service area for the state of Iowa. The Supervisor coordinates recruitment, retention, matching, training, and support services throughout the program. The primary role of this position is to supervise, although in limited situations the Supervisor may temporarily take on the Caseworker responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in social work or a degree in a human services related field plus two years of experience in child welfare or a Master's Degree in Human Services is required.
  • Able to be self driven/reliant and work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to show empathy/compassion to build trust based relationships
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in working with Foster and Adoptive families is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case level supervision for all Caseworkers as needed.
  • Assure an efficient and effective referral and matching process including a service area team matching process
  • Ensure each assigned Caseworker is trained in the One Caseworker Model of service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain referral and matching policies and procedures
  • Work with the Quality Staff to assure the database captures necessary information for efficient and effective referral and matching processes
  • Review home studies prior to submission, ensuring a thorough and unbiased assessment of family skills and strengths and justification for licensure and/or adoption approval.
  • Manage assignments of relative and ICPC relative home studies.
  • Assign prospective families to a Caseworker within the Community Service Center.
  • Maintain a service area database with current resource family and child placement information
  • Assure an adequate staffing pattern to meet contract guidelines and within budget parameters
  • Develop a supervision model and supervise the Caseworkers to assure fidelity to defined referral and matching policies and procedures, including specific staff expectations
  • Develop new employee training and on-going training for Caseworkers.
  • Assure timely and effective connections between caseworkers and local RRTS supervisors
  • Coach, mentor, and support Caseworkers in meeting contract requirements regarding recruitment, home studies, and support, and track and monitor individual and collective Caseworker job performance.
  • Define policies and procedure for troubleshooting potentially late matches.
  • Work with Quality staff on quality improvements to referral and matching
  • Periodically assess DHS satisfaction with matching including families who were not recommended for a match during the quarter
  • Complete periodic on-call rotation assignment.
  • Provide pre-service and in-service training, when necessary.
