About The Position

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is seeking candidates for the position of RR Carpenter/Locksmith-Specialist (1120) in the Maintenance/Bridges & Buildings department. As an experienced carpenter/locksmith, this role involves constructing, erecting, installing, or repairing structures and fixtures made of wood, such as concrete forms, building frameworks, including partitions, joists, studding, and rafters, and wood stairways, window and door frames, fencing and hardwood floors using carpenter's hand tools and power tools. The position also includes performing other building trade roles such as painting, welding, and assisting with concrete work. SEPTA currently requires all new employees to be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination at their pre-employment medical appointment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must have experience as a carpenter in general building or industrial construction and roofing
• Must have experience as a locksmith or have successfully completed a course in locksmithing (certification or diploma must be provided)
• Must satisfactorily completed pre-employment and performance tests as required

Responsibilities

• Performs carpentry work such as lay out and repair of inside and outside building framing and partitions.
• Installs trim and millwork, doors, windows, counters, cabinetry, etc.
• Constructs stations platforms, shoring, heavy timber framing, and concrete forms.
• Operates various power wood working tools such as combination, saws, planer, etc.
• Works from ladders, scaffolds and other structures.
• Installs, repairs, replaces various door sets; installs and sets up key ways, locks for master keys, etc.
