About The Position

Tesoro Group is seeking an experienced Roving Maintenance Technician to help assist with a client’s affordable housing portfolio within the Minneapolis and St Paul area. The ideal candidate will have maintenance knowledge, be self-motivated, be able to organize multiple tasks throughout the day and is self-sufficient. Strong plumbing and drywall experience is required for this role. This role is contract to hire (30 days before conversion). This role is working in Minneapolis and St. Paul cities/neighborhoods, the corporate shop is based in Brooklyn Park, MN. Salary: $30-$35/hour DOQ (+ a monthly mileage reimbursement). Schedule: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm. This is a full-time on-site role Roving as a Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs in occupied single-family homes. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician will work with the renovations team to complete includes lock changes, developing scopes of work, performing general maintenance and repairs on vacant properties, quality checks on vendor work, and completing lease-up inspections with the local housing authority.

Requirements

  • Strong plumbing and drywall experience is required for this role.
  • At a minimum, 2+ years of HVAC and light electrical experience are required.
  • Experience with general handy work and drywall/leak repairs.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Reliable transportation and valid drivers license.
  • Pass a drug test and background check before employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Section 8 and rental licensing preferred, not required.
  • Bachelor's degree in trade school is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a variety of skilled building maintenance including repairs to sinks, windows, floors, and other parts of the building.
  • Maintains the grounds as assigned which may include trash pick-up, shoveling, and sweeping curb/dumpster area, maintaining landscape beds and other areas.
  • Preparation of vacant units for occupancy which may include cleaning responsibilities.
  • Installation and repair of major and minor appliances (e.g. washer, dryer, refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwashers, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot maintenance issues, diagnose problems, replace and/or repair parts, test and make necessary adjustments to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs as needed.
  • Lock changes.
  • Developing scopes of work.
  • Performing general maintenance and repairs on vacant properties.
  • Quality checks on vendor work.
  • Completing lease-up inspections with the local housing authority.
  • Taking photos, notes, office updates within Microsoft Office products.
